PTI Allowed to carry ‘Bat’ as Symbol, Ordered to Hold Intra-party Elections in 20 Days
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has directed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ( PTI) to conductintra-party choices within the coming 20 days.
Also, the ECP has granted authorization for the PTI to use the ‘club’ as its symbol in forthcoming choices. The ECP’s decision comes as it declared the formerintra-party choices of PTI null and void.
PTI allowed to carry The reticent verdict was blazoned on Thursday, November 23, 2023. The ECP had originally reserved its decision on September 13, following the submission of a response by the PTI’s legal representative in response to a show- cause notice issued to the party.
The four- member bench, led by Nisar Durrani, heard the case.

The ECP had issued a notice to PTI on August 2, questioning the party’s eligibility and suggesting disqualification for failing to conductintra-party choices.
Barrister Gohar, representing PTI, argued that theintra-party choices had taken place before the party constitution’s correction, and latterly, the emendations were withdrawn.
PTI allowed to carry Notably, in May of the former time, the ECP had issued a show- cause notice to the PTI chief for the party’s failure to holdintra-party choices.

Originally set for June 13, 2021, the ECP extended the deadline upon PTI’s request, allowing them until June 13, 2022. still, the PTI, the former ruling party, didn't misbehave with the extended deadline, leading to the ECP’s decision to declare the formerintra-party choices null and void.
