Federal Board of Revenue FBR:
The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) was created on Gregorian calendar month 01, 1924 through enactment of the Central Board of Revenue Act, 1924. In 1944, a full-fledged Revenue Division was created below the Ministry of Finance. once independence, this arrangement continued up to thirty first August 1960 once on the recommendations of the executive Re-organization Committee, FBR was created associate connected department of the Ministry of Finance. In 1974, any changes were created to contour the organization and its functions. Consequently, the post of Chairman FBR was created with the standing of ex-officio extra Secretary and Secretary Finance was alleviated of his duties as ex-officio Chairman of the FBR.
In order to get rid of impediments within the exercise of body powers of a Secretary to the govt and effective formulation and implementation of economic policy measures, the standing of FBR as a Revenue Division was repaired below the Ministry of Finance on October twenty two, 1991. However, the Revenue Division was abolished in Jan 1995, and FBR reverted back to the pre-1991 position. The Revenue Division continues to exist since from Dec 01, 1998.
