Group of Beggars Posing: MULTAN (Web Desk) – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) took action at Multan Airport, intercepting and detaining 16 individuals suspected of being beggars attempting to board a flight to Saudi Arabia.
These individuals were found masquerading as Umrah pilgrims, using Umrah visas as their cover. The group consisted of 11 women, four men, and a child.
It is essential to note that the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, during a recent meeting with the Senate Committee on Overseas Pakistanis, revealed the disturbing trend of beggars being trafficked abroad through illicit means.
The situation has become so dire that both the Iraqi and Saudi ambassadors have reported overcrowded jails resulting from the detention of such individuals.
